DRUMMERS DIGEST 20 – Silver Car

October 11th, 2009

We dedicate this long awaited, new installment of the Drummers Digest to a fan from Colorado, Loreca, who is dying of cancer.  It was our blessing to be able to share with her songs from our upcoming release as she seeks peace and comfort in her time left.

We appreciate all the e-mails and messages sent to us expressing your excitement for the new stuff and the release of our new c.d., “Monks, Monsters and the Suffering”.  We wait in anticipation a new musical connection between us.

Silver Car

I can’t believe I drove so far
But I believe you stole my heart
Take my hand I’ll turn around
That’s ok don’t make a sound

I think I understand you
And you’re acting so amazed
But It was me that needed to find you
In this crazy way

You keep a heart protected
Yeah, I can do the same
But I was yours before I knew your name
Completely yours before I knew your name

I can’t believe I drove so far
But I believe you stole my heart
Take my hand I’ll turn around
That’s ok, don’t make a sound

Describe this whole obsession
Laughing if you dare
Another deep confession
Life is so unfair

I can’t believe I drove so far
But I believe you stole my heart
Take my hand I’ll turn around
That’s ok, don’t make a sound
Driving in this silver car
I believe you stole my heart
Hand in hand I’ll turn around
This silence is the perfect sound…

THE GREATEST EVENT EVER …

July 31st, 2009

… or maybe the second greatest event or maybe just a tribute to that event!?#$? (AKA – THE GAS STATION ALTERCATION)

Anyways, here it is as told by ‘The Professor’, BRYAN AUER.

I was driving home from the great city of San Diego yesterday afternoon and I noticed I was in need of some gas.

As I pulled in and got out of my car, I heard the sounds of two men shouting and more  sounds of people cheering and ranting.

I peaked around the gas tank and add posters and noticed that a small crowd had gathered.  What were they looking at?

As my eyes focused in, I saw it.  Just beyond the crowd I saw one man being hit repeatedly in the face by another man.  The second man was still just out of my sight, but I could see that the first man was bloody and clearly losing this gas station altercation.

The small crowd cheered as the fight continued, yelling their approval. I thought to myself, how can this be happening? Why the thirst for more when it had clearly been too much already?

So as I drew closer and saw more of the picture, something came over me and suddenly I found myself bear hugging the puncher from behind. He tried to break free but I was overpowering him and he was clearly immobilized.

After a few seconds of struggle, I looked up and noticed the first man with a look in his eye. He wanted to hit this man who had been beating him, while I was holding him! Oh I don’t think so!

As the man came near, I powered the man I was holding to one side and kicked the other back a few steps. He came at us again and so I let my foot fly, but this time I connected with him right square between the legs.

He fell to all fours and began to breath heavy. Now he was beaten AND ball bashed. What a suck day!

It was at this time that I stood between them and began to lecture them about their behavior. The crowd went silent.

I told them that their behavior was ridiculous. I told them it was over and there was no way I would let this continue. This was ridiculous, lawless and immature.

Then with a few final words I said … gentlemen, this is unnacceptable and immature for 17 year old kids, so it is certainly unnacceptable for 85 year old men. Now get in your cars and return to your retirement homes … this is over.

YES, that’s right, 85 year old men fighting in public.

And to continue the strange … now the same crowd that cheered the fight on and did not help break it up, even when I began to, were now clapping for me. Yes, a round of applause.  What?

IN THE STUDIO – Part 5 (Time for Live!)

May 13th, 2009

Friends,

We have been spending so much time in the studio recording our new album that the itch to play live and re-connect with our friends and fans has grown.

So when our friends THE ADAM WATTS BAND invited us to play a show with them in Orange County CA, we said YEA!

If you get the chance, come and join us for 24E live and also get introduced to a phenominal group of guys and musicians in THE ADAM WATTS BAND, Adam, Jules, Nic and Matt.

IN THE STUDIO – Part 4 (The return of the bottom)

April 15th, 2009

He’s back ….

Last week we had scheduled to record the bottom.  By that I mean the low end of a track that rumbles and riots the song in your soul.  The part that makes you literally feel the song in your floor and fillings.  Of course I am talking about the bass guitar.

So Travis, Bryan and I arrive at the studio only to discover that Steve was nowhere to be found.  Some calls went out and he was found washed up on the shores of Carlsbad CA.  So let me explain …

… our beloved Steve is the reason why we must take a motorcycle whenever we go on tour or out of town.  For we know that there is 50/50 chance at best, that when it is time to be somewhere and get moving, Steve will be missing.  So we leave messages, drop the bike and hope he catches up in time.  HE HAS NEVER MISSED A GIG YET!

So anyways, Steve had forgotten to inform us that he was taking his family to the beach.  Not for the afternoon, not for the day, but for the week!  Well we of course made due, crushing out the drums, keys and acoustic guitars to “Troubled Sky”.  And last night, along with some great sounds from ‘the sound’, the rumble and the riot made it complete.

IN THE STUDIO – Part 3 (lines)

March 26th, 2009

Sorry friends, no pics this week, but we will get something up from the studio soon, we promise.

This week we have been working on ”I’d Rather be a Queen than an Angel”, “Finding the Orange”, ”She is the One”, “Always in my Head” and “Remember Me”.  They are all looking very strong to make the final cuts for the new album.

As 24E has always focused on the lyrics of our songs, we realize that many of the songs do not translate in to poetry.  In other words, without the sung melody, they sometimes do not carry the strength or depth they were written with.  So instead of sharing a full lyric from one of our songs in this blog, we will share a line from each of the songs listed above.

I’D RATHER BE A QUEEN THAN AN ANGEL
“I want to find out what it means to love again and to feel”

FINDING THE ORANGE
“Silent stares and awkwardness, I hear what you can’t say”

SHE IS THE ONE
“Are you anywhere, we have the power to move”

ALWAYS IN MY HEAD
“… i’m waiting for the Dawn in you”

REMEMBER ME
“say your goodbyes and don’t be afraid to cry, because nothing ever comes back after it dies”

IN THE STUDIO – Part 2 (Back to Basics)

March 18th, 2009

Why do I stay
Why do I stay here
Many lonely hours
And the silence sounds the same
What have I lost inside me?
And will I feel it again?
She said
I’d rather be a queen than an angel
I’d rather have all than sacrifice

I want to find out what it means
To love again and to feel
I’d rather be a queen than an angel
I’d rather run away than have to fight
But I don’t want to come home to be alone
So I will be an angel tonight

Here I walk the straight line
Here I am, I’m someone else
Here I am, I’m crying out to breathe
My heart has disappeared
She said
I’d rather be a queen than an angel
I’d rather have all than sacrifice

I want to find out what it means
To love again and to feel
I’d rather be a queen than an angel
I’d rather run away than have to fight
But I don’t want to come home to be alone
So I will be your angel tonight

thanks for lending your heart and time to mine …

IN THE STUDIO – Part 1 (Rock and Roll)

March 11th, 2009

Friends, Fans, 24lEgion and the Sistahood,

At the request of many of you, this will be the first of regular updates concerning our progress in the studio.  We hope to bring you information, insight to the creative process and some of the crazy antics that creep in when you spend long and late hours making music.

The boys and I continue to work through new songs in the studio for our upcoming album, “Monks, Monsters and the Suffering”.  Some songs we are extremely excited about already and others we still have yet to find that magic thing that launches the song to the next level.

Have no fear, we are dedicated to making this an album that satisfies our own creative craving, while reaching that place where YOU, our fans, connect with it.  Sometimes we can be overly artistic, but believe me, we desire to make music that nurtures the connection we have always enjoyed with our fans.

Here is a list of some of the songs that are being considered for “Monks, Monsters and the Suffering”.

Destroy Me
She is the One
He Said Love
Amayzing Day
Don’t Say Goodnight
The Museum
Staring Back at Me
Not the Same
I’d Rather be a Queen than an Angel
Love is Real
This is Us
Always in my Head

VEGAS NEWS?

February 26th, 2009

Dear Friends and Fans,

Since we blogged that we would not be having our annual 24E VIP show in Vegas this year, we have been touched by the many people who have expressed how bummed they are.  Many have asked why we have decided to skip it and so we wanted to let you know.

The decision was made partially due to the economic climate, but that did not seem to stop many of you on planning to be there.
The other and more important reason is that our very own guitarist, Travis Tingley and his wife Emily are expecting their first child around the same time as we usually do the show.  We looked at completely different dates but we were unable to work it out.

CONGRATS TO THEM and please post your message to them here.

On another note, we are looking at doing a VIP c.d. release party somewhere here in our home area of Southern California instead.  It will be something to remember!
If you are interested, please let us know by commenting on this blog.
